British Racing Greats 2024
A warm sunny September 20th 2024 saw the games industry unite again for the second year of British Racing Greats, in support of SpecialEffect and Solving Kids Cancer. This year the venue was the historic racing circuit on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, home of the world famous Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival.
Like the year before in Donington, the gaming world was represented by the cream of the British industry, with returning faces from last year including Playground Games, Sumo Digital, EA, Hutch, Codemasters, Stainless Games, Natural Motion and SEGA …and new arrivals bursting onto the scene Maverick Games, who brought their entire studio on a road-trip to the event.
This year, support for the event grew from different industry sectors bringing together people with a love for amazing cars, incredible racing games, and of course, our two charities. Julius Baer, DHL, Coutts and EasyJet to name a few, all gave their time to make the day special.
The cars on show this year stepped up a level, Classic cars, Supercars, and Hypercars from Ferrari, Mclaren, Lamborghini, Porsche and Aston Martin put on an amazing display, with most taking to the track to give attendees over 120 hot lap experiences throughout the day. New additions this year included a skid pan experience, a pitstop challenge with Alpine F1, and a cars and coffee chill-out area courtesy of the Maverick team.
Despite a tough time in the industry this year, as always the gaming community came together with new friends and supporters to put on a special day for our two amazing charities. In all, the day raised a total of £50,000, and we look forward to pushing that number even higher next year!
